Dear Larry:
Since my lightning kicked the stuffings out of Virginia Beach last week, I've felt guilty...because you did do a column (though not the correct one the Si's wanted)...and now I feel wrong about it when I signal for rain. So...I've discontinued, days ago, any more signaling for rain and storms. There's bound to be an "echo effect"...that is, for several weeks the mechanism I set up will be in the process of phasing out...it doesn't just happen right now. But after that, it should be very nice here. At any rate I won't be kicking up any more lightning attacks and driving away the "grid" the same way. That's that, and I feel better about it. I like you and want to keep the faith with you.
Interestingly...the Si's told me something new yesterday, in their mysterious and inimical way. It was to the R effect that they had trained me for long years...how to use ODE effects in literally hundreds of ways under varying conditions...and they asked me a question: do not lawyers study law for years to become lawyers? Do not doctors study medicine and surgery for years to become MD's? And at that point they withdrew from further communication. That can only have one meaning as I understand the Si's. They've been giving me what amounts to a "college education" in the use of their many powers, and ahead of me lies...some sort of "degree" evidently...i.e., I'll "graduate" and become "something". Of course I don't know what that "something" is. But one thing for sure. I'll be the only, single, graduate from this college, in the human race.
If you aren't doing anything next Wednesday at noon...drop by 401, Plaza One, and let me treat you to an old-fashioned, delicious chicken and dumpling meal at the Puritan Restaurant that I told you about...or you could meet me there at noon. Either way. If you can make it, of course.
Before closing...Dr. Simpson treated me, and the Si's, badly, when he refused to confirm the absolute fact that I called up a hurricane and guided it straight to target for him. It's documented. All right. Let's teach Dr. Simpson a lesson. Am going to call up two hurricanes to criss-cross lower Florida, making an "x" pattern (not necessarily two at the same time) either this season, or the next season. And guess what "target zero" will be! You've guessed it...the Hurricane Center (and Dr. Simpson's headquarters) at Miami University. Heh heh!
