A high, bright "halo" was reported in the sky southwest of Tidewater by callers to police, the Virginian-Pilot Newspaper, and the Norfolk Weather Bureau Monday night from 9:40 until about 10:30.
A definite cause for the astral light was not assigned but United Press International reported that, "The Navy's Poseidon roared into the night from Cape Kennedy at 9:31 p.m. in the 29th test of the new weapons system Monday."
The Bureau said cirrus clouds at 30,000 feet would normally reflect a light into a halo effect. But the bureau spokesman knew of no light, such as the moon, specifically situated Monday night.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration's rocket installation at Wallops Island reported no firings Monday.

In this letter...I told you that I was employing an effect...another dimension...an unusual apparatus to cover this "grid"...and I said..."So, in the near future things get lively here. All sorts of weird and unusual magnetic electro-magnetic effects...."
So last night I was watching the 11 o'clock news announcer said "Strange object seen in the sky"...and I called all three stations on the subject...hundreds of people had phone in to the police that they'd seen a giant mushroom cloud which changed into a giant multi-colored mushroom cloud which changed into a giant multi-colored mushroom cloud over the Chesapeake area of Norfolk (where I live, incidentally)...and the different announcers were all trying to guess what it could be, and said frankly that nobody knew what it was. They'd contacted Wallops Island, but nothing was being done there. They all carefully and cautiously endeavored to not say the word "UFO". But one man, of them all, was at least honest: "There was a time, he said, "when I didn't believe in THOSE THINGS, but then I saw one, and now I'm a believer."
In the paper this morning there was just a small blurb...and it tried to give it the old "marsh gas" treatment. No mention of a "UFO". They called it a "halo". I just looked at the Ledger-Star and they don't even mention it. At least I could find no mention of it.
So...in the space of two weeks I called in my UFO's to give this area a flood of rain and storm...and they did, certainly did. Then a genuine UFO appears over Norfolk last night.
If that all doesn't fit into the "lively" pattern, I don't know what would. But Ill say one thing. The radio and press and TV here...do a marvelous job...of covering up. But it is going to be increasingly harder to do...as the UFO's I'm connected with...get livelier here.
