TO ALL CONTACTS
Last week I called the editor of the Baltimore Sun...to give him some important information. Unfortunately he did not know me, he said...nor my work...and his manner was insolent and insulting (to me, it seemed, anyway). In exasperation, I finally did something I have never done in my life...hung up on him.
I have thought on this...and have reached a decision. That editor needs to be taught a lesson, somehow. The Baltimore Bullets pro basketball team...that's his home team. Same with the Baltimore Colts.
From this time on...I will crush the Bullets and the Colts, with my powers. (If you will note, the Philadelphia 76'ers, with a brilliant team...have been beaten down once again, this season. Same with the Phillies. Same with the Eagles. I never quit).
Now, the playoffs...championship playoffs...are coming up soon for the Baltimore Bullets. I'll use all of my power to make sure...that they do not get anywhere. Specifically...I'll work, play by play, game by game...to make them miss their baskets, and be off-timing. Nervous and off-timing.
Of course...I did this to them last year, quite successfully. I even wrote Gene Shue and told him there would be no use for his team to suit up for the remaining four games...because I'd make the Bullets lose. What happened? They lost them all!
I'm not infallible; not always successful; but I do my best. And my best...usually is good enough!
The Bullets and the Colts...are sunk. As of now.

Mr. Gene Shue, Coach
Baltimore Bullets Basketball Team
Baltimore, Maryland
Dear Mr. Shue:
I told you, in writing...before today's game with the Knicks...what I would do to the Bullets...make them miss the basket.
Well, this game today should have made a believer out of the Baltimore Sun night editor...watching the game on TV...I made the Bullets miss basket after basket
after basket...
it was a massacre.
Who ever heard...of a pro basketball team in the 3rd quarter of a pro playoff game...having 55 points in the 3rd quarter? Your team did!
Your team shot a pitiful, unbelievable 34%...meaning they missed most of their shots.
and that is where my PK work came in. I forced this action.
Just like I did to you...last year...when you insulted me over national TV and I called up the Baltimore Sun and told them I'd beat you game after game...and told you not to even suit up for the remaining games. And you lost them all!
You can thank...the night editor of the Baltimore Sun...for today's catastrophe.
Now get this...I will be in Madison Square Garden, personally (not watching over TV, like today) on this coming Tuesday...at 1 PM...to finish off the Baltimore Bullets...making them nervous, making them miss!
Today was the 1st game I could get your Bullets on TV...in sight range. and my PK was terribly strong! Now let's see if I can polish you off in style this coming Tuesday!

With DeBusschere and Bradley carrying the early load, New York matched Baltimore's balanced scoring to stay even with the Bullets at 10-10. Then, team-ing with Frazier, DeBusschere led a New York charge as the Knicks outscored Baltimore, 14-2, going into the second quarter.
But a series of jump shots by Phil Chenier brought Baltimore back within eight points at 27-19 going into the second quarter.
Another hot streak led by Phil Jackson enabled the Knicks to go in front, 43-33, in the second peri-od but with Marin and Clark hit-ting a series of field goals and free throws, the Bullets cut New York's lead to 48-44 at the half.

Well...I did it. See above. Sure, the Knicks are a good team...but the Bullets were red-hot...and could easily have won, if I'd let them. Believe it or not.
