Dear Ted:
Thank you very much for your letters of April 28th and 29th. I agree with you that a true scientist is one who searches for truth, and other considerations should be secondary.
I can appreciate your "testing" in your other letter, and your wish to learn if I can respond appropriately to your comments. I can note from your letter that you are sophisticated and experienced in many ways, as well as those events described in your book.
I look forward to reading the articles about you in the July and August issues of SAGA. I appreciate your wish to find some stable financial resources, so that you can continue your work and can offer assistance and information to interested persons.
I regret that I am unable to provide the kind of financial assistance which would be helpful to you at the present time. This is not only because I do not have the available funds, but also because of the same kind of consideration which you mentioned in regard to the search for truth. I face the same kind of situation as you do; the wish to provide other people with knowledge and information which might lead to a better understanding of UFO phenomena. My own situation is complicated because I recognize the implications in ESP, hypnosis, and UFO phenomena. The difficulty, of course, is that these related phenomena are gaining some acceptance in the traditional approaches of science, and yet they do not have the general acceptance that I believe they will in a few years. Thus, anyone who wishes to achieve recognition of these kinds of knowledge must be ready to recognize that the time is not yet ripe for such acceptance (just as you recognize that in Judo, "going with" the force of the opponent is sometime more advisable than trying to "stop" the oncoming blow).

I do believe that some day there will be financial support available to interested persons, and I hope that this will provide an ongoing research center to study the relationships of psychical and UFO phenomena. However, at this time, I know that it will take the work of several persons to provide any kind of meaningful investigation. This has been the experience of Dr. Jules Eisenbud, who has investigated the abilities of Ted Serios, the man who can "make photographs" with his mind. Dr. Eisenbud has found that even his good well controlled studies are suspect unless he can get others to cooperate with him in setting up appropriate investigations.
Perhaps in a few years there will be funds available to establish such a research center, and then I would be most happy to cooperate with you in studying your abilities and providing documentation for the methods and results.
Until then, I wish to thank you for your offer of providing the opportunity to investigate your abilities. Perhaps "fate" will allow such an opportunity to come about sooner than I expect. Best wishes to you.
Sincerely,
R. Leo Sprinkle, Ph.D.
